In Elemental Shapes of Randomness almost everything changes randomly, and every Element is a Shape.


Game created for the "Random Jam" by 8-Bits to Infinity.

The jam lasted for 12 days, i had 5-6 days give or take, didnt finish all of it, had to sacrifice some juice and core mechanics but its playable :)


The Player

The main Player changes RANDOMLY to a different elemental warrior:

  1. Change occurs RANDOMLY every X seconds
  2. Choices are: 
    1. Red Fire Warrior -
      1. Main ability - Fast fireball 
      2. Alt ability - Fire shield that protects you from damage for a short period of time
    2. Blue Ice Warrior -
      1. Main Ability - Ice bullet
      2. Alt Ability - Ice Bomb - an AOE bomb (AOE not functional at the moment)
    3. Green Air Warrior -
      1. Main Ability - Ariel Arrow
      2. Alt Ability - Fast short distanced dash
    4. Brown Earth Warrior
      1. Main ability - Ground toss (future plans - Ground slam)
      2. Alt Ability - Ground platform - ability to create ground platforms so you can reach other higher platforms (and get those Elemental Hearts!)
  3. There are JUST TWO abilities you can use in every shape (Right and Left mouse)


The Elemental planes

The main Scene changes randomly to a different elemental plane:

  1. Change occurs RANDOMLY every X seconds
  2. Choices are Fire, Ice, Air, Earth
  3. Different amount of Platform relevant to the same element
  4. Size and length is random


The Enemies

There are 4 enemy types:

  1. Fire - Round shaped enemies
  2. Ice - Box shaped enemies
  3. Air - Triangle shaped enemies
  4. Earth - Hexagon Shaped enemies




How-To-Play

Controls:

  • Move around with A-D
  • Jump with Space - you can Double jump!
  • Main ability with Left mouse button (short CD)
  • Alt ability with Right mouse button (med-short CD)
  • Press ESC at any point to pause the game

General objectives:

  1. Cull the rogue elements - in other words, kill'em all
  2. Collect all 4 Elemental hearts to restore the peace
  3. Each Elemental Heart will be in its own plane, probably on a high platform which will require you to utilize the Earth element's Alt ability to create platforms and get up there.

Known Issues

! All issues will be fixed post-jam rating !

  1. CD's are missing from the abilities, the CD's are much shorter than planned
  2. It's possible to stack Earth platforms and place them in weird places likes under the ground.

Nice, i like the art style and the theme a lot. Good work!
I wasn't able to win even once tho, lovest platforms are too high to just jump on them so i had to use enemies (which made me take damage) or wait for the earth boy form. And when on the platforms it's hard to kill any enemies since my bullets collide with platforms, yet enemies' bullets go right through. Best strat is to just climb high enough so enemies don't shoot you but then the arena changes and you'll fall down. 
I had several runs where i got 2/4, but i don't remember even getting 3/4.

Some bugs i found: On loss, it shows a black window with two white rectangles. Looks like when walking into the right edge you just fall off the map.
