In Signal Defender you find yourself crashed on an unfamiliar planet and your signal is lost.

You ship can auto repair itself and resync with the signal as time goes by, however, This unfamiliar planet has some very angry bugs that can't wait to eat metal... 

Be wary - once you manage to find and refill your missing signal power it will attract flying bugs that are drown to the signal.


Used a very unique color theme of Gray-Pink only:


How-To-Play:

  1. Move with WASD
  2. Attack:  
    1. Left mouse to fire normal bullets - once your Drone is activated
    2. "E" to fire missile - once your Drone is Activated 
  1. Build turrets to defend your ship
    1. Basic Turret - Medium fire rate, medium damage
    2. Sniper Turret - Low fire rate, high damage
    3. Slow Turret - Slows down enemies with pulses


How-To-Win:

  1. Build Turrets to defend your ship
  2. Turrets cost energy - you can gain more Enemy by:
    1. Every bug kill grants you more Energy (they ate it, they love energy and metal!)
    2. Pick up a battery that can drop from a dead bug (yeah, they also eat Batteries)
  3. Signal Power auto-replenishes via Time
  4. Once Signal Power is full:
    1. Drone will be activated and always at your side, you can now attack
    2. Flying bugs will start flying towards the player and shoot
  5. Once all waves are done + all bugs are dead - You win.
  6. If the Player is - you loose
  7. if the Ship is destroyed - you loose


Issues and Features i didnt manage to complete

  • Design and difficulty - didnt manage to support more than 1 default difficulty, it might be too hard till you really get the hang of it :)
  • Tower Upgrades
  • More weapons for the Player / Drone
  • AOE Tower
  • Destroy tower to refund some Energy (for better positioning)
  • More enemies - Tank bug, Hover bug, Healing bug
  • Settings menu - just the butter :)
  • Credits menu - same
  • Wanted to play with light2D, one of my biggest regrets that i didnt get a chance to.


Developer note

The Idea was for a Tower Defense meets 2D Top-Down shooter.

I dont feel i accomplished it very well, due to IRL issues i didnt manage to spend 2 weeks on it, more in the lines for 4-5 days tops (1-2 hours every night).

Signal Defender Gameplay

Nice and fun gameplay. I found the game a bit too easy but I played a lot of tower defense games in the past. The second layer of gameplay with the bugs attacking the player was quite interesting for me. It would maybe be interesting to have some towers that attack those bugs as well. The animations and art (e.g. smoke when building a tower) were great and the sound effects made everything feel way more “real”. Well done!

glad to hear that part with the attacking flying bugs was interesting, i was going for a mix of genres.


I had an idea of more towers, and how to implement different towers so that it would be more engaging and also keep the player char more occupied, didnt get around to it yet .

Even though about an idea of bugs attacking towers + towers health goes down with time gradually.


my games are usually very hard, i'm glad u found it too easy.
